We are a people called together to honour God, finding purpose in serving God, the church and our community.
God has called us as a church to REACH:
â– Releasing people into their God given destiny through community engagement & outreach
â– Equipping believers through discipleship & development
â– Advancing the Kingdom through church planting & missional communities
â– Creating a culture of honour & purpose where everyone can thrive
â– Helping hurting people find freedom and purpose in Christ.
This is not just the job of the leadership, but the responsibility of the whole church community.
In order to achieve this, everyone needs to:
- Attend Sunday worship; where we learn to honour God and one another.
- Connect in small mid-week groups; where we find our purpose.
- Engage in serving the church and wider community.
It is so easy for us to focus on our own life and circumstances and it would be very easy to think that we don't need to attend church. However, the bible shows us that it is important for every believer to attend church where we grow and learn together. In the 21st century, attending church can mean attending an online service as well as attending in person.
Part of engaging with the church is being willing to serve in church ministries and to give into the life of the church, not only in finances, but also in loyalty and faithfulness. Maturity in the Christian faith involves real partnership in order that we may represent and promote the work of the church and be good ambassadors for Christ. For the church to function well and be influential, it needs the support and loyalty of those who are willing to be part of it.
Here's the technical bit!
The doctrinal basis of the church is based on the Assemblies Of God UK Statements of Faith.
1 We believe that the Bible (i.e. the Old and New Testaments excluding the Apocrypha) is the inspired and infallible Word of God, and a supreme authority in all matters of faith and conduct. (2 Timothy 3:15-16 & 2 Peter 1.20-21)
2 We believe in the unity of the One True and living God. one being co-existing in three Person - Father, Son and Holy Spirit (Deut. 6:4; Mark 12:29 Matt 28:19; 2 Cor 13:14; Col 2:9)
3 We believe in the full deity of the Lord Jesus Christ, the incarnate Son of God; His virgin birth, and His real and sinless humanity. His death on the cross, His substitutionary atoning death, His bodily resurrection, and in His personal bodily return in power and glory at His second coming. (Isaiah 7:14; Heb 7.26; 1 Pet 2:22, 2 Cor 5:21; Heb:9:12; 1 Cor 15:4 Rev 19&20)
4 We believe in the fall of man, who was created pure and upright, but fell by voluntary transgression. (Genesis 1:26-31; 3:1-7; Romans 5: 12-21)
5 We believe in salvation through faith in Christ, who according to the scriptures, died for our sins, was buried and was raised from the dead on the third day, and that through His blood we have redemption. (Titus 2:11, 3:5-7 Romans 10:8-15, 1 Cor 15:3-4) This experience is also known as the new birth (John 3:5-6: 1 Peter 1:23; 1 John 5:1)
6 We believe that all who have truly repented and believed in Christ as Lord and Saviour, are commanded to be baptised by immersion in water. (Matt 28:19; Acts 10:47-48; Acts 2:38-39)
7 We believe in the baptism in the Holy Spirit, as an empowerment of the believer with power for service, the biblical evidence of which includes the speaking with other tongues as the Spirit gives utterance. (Acts 1:4-8: Acts 2:4 Acts 10:44-46 Acts 11:14-16; Acts19:6)
8 We believe in the operation of the gifts of the Holy Spirit and the gifts of Christ in the church today. (1 Cor 12:4-11; 1 Cor 4:28; Eph 4: 7- 16)
9 We believe in holiness of life and conduct in obedience to the command of God (1 Peter 4-16; Heb 12:14; 1 Thess 5:23; 1 John 2.6)
10 We believe in deliverance from sickness, by divine healing in the name of Jesus Christ. (Isaiah 53:4-5; Matt 8:16-17; James 5: 13-16)
11 We believe that the breaking of bread (holy communion) is an ordinance set before us by the Lord, and we should celebrate it regularly until the Lord returns.(Luke 22.14-20; 1 Cor 11:20-34)
12 We believe in the bodily resurrection of all men, the everlasting conscious bliss of all who Truly believe in our Lord Jesus Christ and the everlasting conscious punishment of all whose names are not written in the Book of Life. (Dan 12:2-3; John 5:28-29; 1 Cor 15:22-24 Matt 25.46; 2 Thess 1:9 Rev 20:15-20)
We also believe there is one holy and universal church, which is the Body of Christ, and to which all true believers belong.
